We hope you are all keeping well, the Becoming a Doctor (BAD) team know these are uncertain times and major disruptions have been caused to your studies. It is great to see so many of you working together to provide support for each other and healthcare professionals.

During this time please keep up-to-date with your medical school and universities. Remember, do not feel pressured to do things that you are not comfortable with. We would like to bring your attention to updates from the General Medical Council (GMC), Medical Students Council (MSC) and British Medical Association (BMA).

Opportunities to contribute to our work:

The BAD team are working to create more online resources for current and aspiring medical students. We work with key stakeholders including the GMC, Royal Colleges, NHS and Universities to support aspiring and current medical students.

There are opportunities for a medical student lead at each university. If you would like to join the team, suggest a topic, have a question or would like to contribute in any way please do get in touch with us at outreach@becomingadr.org

Elliot

Elliot is a St George’s graduate currently working as an F1 Doctor in East London. As the first in his family to apply to university, Elliot is well aware of the barriers that can be faced in trying to get to medical school. He is passionate about widening access to medicine for underrepresented groups.
 
 He was the representative for St George’s on the BMA Medical Students Committee, and has done lots of work with local schools and colleges to raise awareness of medicine as a career, as well as working on admissions policies with the widening participation team St George’s. Elliot is part of the @BecomingaDr outreach team and National Health Careers Conference Team.
