Press Release 31 March 2020 #MedStudentCovid movement created by medical students and junior doctors to help tackle COVID-19 trends on Twitter The @BecomingADr team brought together medical students across the UK with frontline clinicians, academics and key organisations including the General Medical Council to explore how best medical students could be supported to contribute to efforts to tackle COVID-19. The format for this was a national twitter chat using the specially created hashtag #MedStudentCovid by the @BecomingaDr team. https://twitter.com/BecomingaDr/status/1242969608451211271?s=20 https://twitter.com/RCPLondon/status/1244248741453971458?s=20 International examples of how medical students are contributing were also discussed. The movement has now grown to encompass global examples of how medical students are contributing to help tackle COVID-19.  A report will be published soon with further details and information on the next twitter chat. Elliot

Elliot is a St George’s graduate currently working as an F1 Doctor in East London. As the first in his family to apply to university, Elliot is well aware of the barriers that can be faced in trying to get to medical school. He is passionate about widening access to medicine for underrepresented groups.
 
 He was the representative for St George’s on the BMA Medical Students Committee, and has done lots of work with local schools and colleges to raise awareness of medicine as a career, as well as working on admissions policies with the widening participation team St George’s. Elliot is part of the @BecomingaDr outreach team and National Health Careers Conference Team.
